Slaithwaite Appoint New MD

The historic Huddersfield based Slaithwaite Band has appointed a new Musical Director following the departure of Barry Hudson earlier this year.

Taking over the reins of the band is Tabby Clegg, the band’s second female conductor since its beginnings in 1892.

A graduate of the RNCM and former Band Manager and principal cornet player of the Yorkshire Co-op Band, Tabby is currently the co-Director of Publishing House Mode for.... and has recently launched the bespoke PR agency for brass musicians, Brass! PR.

Commenting on her appointment, Tabby said: “It really is a privilege to be appointed MD at Slaithwaite. The band has a fantastic team of players with a passion for development and it also has a wonderful heritage which it is an honour to be a part of. Some truly significant musicians have held the MD position at Slaithwaite with great success and I look forward to taking on the challenge of developing the next chapter of the history books.”

Commenting on behalf of the band, Andrew Booth said: “ After a long and arduous audition process the band are delighted to appoint Tabby Clegg as the next MD of the band. We are looking forward to working with Tabby and believe she will bring a fresh approach towards the band’s development.”
